The Icelandic Taekwondo Federation is looking for a new National Coach in Kyorugi

The Icelandic Taekwondo Federation (TKI) announces the opening of the position for the National Coach in Kyorugi in Iceland. 

The primary function of the coach will be to select, train and coach the Senior National sparring team. Also, the national coach will engage with the Junior national team to ensure a smooth and positive transition from the Junior to the Senior level.

The federation is looking for an individual who:

  • has passion for the sport, 
  • has experience as a sparring coach at an international level
  • has passion for the development of athletes at an international level
  • is able to separate club interests from national federation interests
  • has the ability to work in a structured and goal-focused way
  • can speak foreign languages; fluent English is a must
  • is a good communicator, able to maintain good relationships
  • is in possession of (or in the process of obtaining) an appropriate degree in Sports Sciences
  • is up to date with training and coaching methods
  • has some insight into or has interest in learning a bit about the psychological aspect of being an elite athlete.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Select the members of the national team 
  • Coach and develop the national team and prepare selected competitors for international tournaments 
  • Select competitors from the national team to represent Iceland at international tournaments
  • Participate in international tournaments with the selected competitors
  • Develop the selection criteria for the national team
